Free Entertainment This Summer
Why pay for a concert this summer. Many counties and towns provide free concerts and most are open to the public. All one has to do is to look for them. You can attend and bring the entire family and the neighbors, too.
One of our favorite groups to watch and listen to is The Party Girls. "The Fantastic Party Dolls Show and Dance band is America’s favorite concert female cover group. They also happen to be one of the best party Bands around. The Party Dolls are three female vocalists choreographed with mini-skirts, go-go boots and funky diva garb (toned down for formal affairs). The band features four musician/singers. The show includes medleys from the 60’s (Supremes, Aretha Franklin), 70;s (Donna Summer, Earth and an Fire) and 80’s (Madonna, The Go-Go’s) and much more…"
We attended our first concert this season, Summer 2009, with The Party Dolls last night at "Duke Island Park Old York Rd Bridgewater, NJ 908-722-1200 7:00PM Free admission, open to the public." The concert was great. We bought soft serve ice cream cones for $3.50 each. Frozen ice cream novelties and Italian ice were also available. We brought cold water from home and our lawn chairs. Other people bring chips, dips, sandwiches, and other snacks and beverages.
See their calendar for future dates. Look for the free and open to the public dates to chose a concert to attend. We have followed The Party Dolls for at least a decade enjoying their concerts at least 4 or 5 times each summer season. We expect to see them in Sewaren, NJ (Woodbridge) on July 3rd and Summit, NJ on the July 4th. And we will look for them to attend additional concerts later in the summer.
We also attend the majority of the Union County Parks Concerts http://www.ucnj.org/parks/summerarts.html each year.
