New Graduates, This is as Good as It Gets

New Graduates, This is as Good as It Gets

Whether you just graduated from high school, college, technical school, trade school, military training or some sort of on the job training program, your employment opportunities are as good as it gets right now in America.

Tens of millions of jobs have been offshored to other countries. The Federal minimum wage has not been increased in about 10 years and it will be a half measure when it is approved because it will be short at least 2 dollars from having the same purchasing power at minimum wage of the 1960's. Hundreds of thousands of H1B aliens have been brought to America and are replacing Americans who are willing, able, and qualified to perform the work and surprise, Congress is trying to increase the number. Up to 20 million illegal aliens have invaded America and are also stealing American jobs and reducing salary and benefit levels. Recognized authorities are predicting 30 million additional American jobs will be outsourced overseas during the next few years.

A writer of employment recommendations stated that recent graduates who are being frustrated trying to find decent jobs with good pay and benefits are waiting for the Baby Boomers to retire. Let me clue you in...most are gone from the workforce already. Their employers told them they were not needed anymore and fired. Many arrived outside work and found that they were no longer allowed inside. Many were escorted out of the building by police. Many were forced to train the aliens replacing them so they could continue a few more weeks of being paid and maybe obtain some severance money for their families.

It has been bleak for the Baby Boomers because most under 65 years of age wanted to use the last years of their employment to save for retirement. But Bush, Congress, and big business took that way from them. It is difficult or sometimes impossible to start a new career earning a good salary and benefits. We all know how expensive it is to pay for retraining or an additional certification or degree and there is no meaningful assistance...especially when one has to support children or is a caregiver of others. Most baby boomers still working are under-employed. Many have had to spend out the money intended for retirement just to pay bills now. It is sad to think that auto workers and college graduates are working at Walmart type jobs as clerks, cashiers, administrators, and wait staff.

The President, Congress, and big busines have bloodied, bruised, and knocked out the American worker and we must revive quickly or the fight will be over. The minimum wage must be updated and re-establised to provide the purchasing power of the 1960's. The Mexican American border must be secure. Employers of illegal aliens must be prosecuted. If jobs for illegal aliens dry up if the employers face prosecution, then many will return home voluntarily. The remaining illegal aliens should be arrested and prosecuted. All American funded contracts at the federal, state and local levels amount to trillions of dollars and should be steered to American companies employing Americans first. Many industries are already overseen by government agencies such as banking and utilities where most of the money comes from American citizen consumers who should benefit with local jobs for American citizens. We must send the bulk of the H1B aliens home because there are American citizens who are willing, able, and qualified to do the work.

America produced 52% of world gdp during World War II supporting our allies across the world and fighting wars on two continents. With Bush free trade we cannot adequately support our troops in Iraq and Afganistan properly. we had a shortage of smart bombs and had to settle disputes with Switzerland to obtain critical components. Our troops in war zones are short body armor and armor protection for their vehicles due to foreign outsourcing in the supply chains of those items. If faced with a major war like World War II, constant negotiations with our foreign supply chain partners would be the biggest problem. America must hold all of the resources it needs to adequately supply and support its military, which will bring back more jobs to America.

This is as good as it gets in America unless we all become politically active and try to straighten out our elected representatives. Right now I sometimes reject what some of the Deocrats are saying and sometimes I reject was some Republicans are saying...I guess I am becoming more independant. The polls and the results of the last election indicate one direction for the country and yet our elected representatives are pulling in the opposite direction it seems.

Just think, if we do not straighten out the labor problem now, it will only get worse for future generations of American citizens.
