Petro Charged Me $5.099 For #2 Heating Oil

Petro Charged Me $5.099 For #2 Heating Oil

I got an oil delivery of home heating oil on May 28th, 2008 and Petro oil charged me $5.099 per gallon for almost 200 gallons.

I have no way of knowing but to ask the public whether or not the price was fair to me. I have automatic delivery and I think my 500 gallon tank was topped off that day. I was told previously that my next delivery was scheduled for August 2008, but they moved up my delivery date. Do you think they moved up my delivery date to take advantage of current high prices while the odds are that August prices would be much lower?

I think prices will probably go up during the next heating season and I must figure out how to keep my family warm without going bankrupt. I do not want to have to choose between food, health insurance, other insurance, prescriptions, other utility bills, clothing, and other necessities whether to pay my fuel oil bill. And it does not look any better for the next heating season either.

Petro has a newsletter that can be downloaded with tips to save money during the next heating season at http://www.petrohp.com/newsletter/index.asp . I have not read it yet but it is probably worthwhile.

What are we supposed to do if prices really jump out of sight? Most of us are already wearing sweaters in the house, sometimes two of them at a time. And there is no energy plan at the national or state levels to make home heating oil affordable.

I think all elected officials that have been in office for 4 or more years should be voted out of office because they did not pay attention and did nothing to enable us to heat our homes affordably.

What do you think? Write to your elected officials and complain. Call their offices on the phone. They think they are doing great jobs unless people complain.
