Buy $4 Generics at Wal-Mart
My doctor told me to buy generics at Wal-Mart to save money. I looked at the Wal-Mart website where there is a page that lists the $4 generic drugs by name, strength, and quantity. Most of the drugs are for a month's worth of time. Here is the Wal-Mart pharmacy page with additional information.
If you have a health insurance prescription card give that to your Wal-Mart pharmacy in order to receive the better price between your insurance and the $4 Wal-Mart charge. In other words, if the insurance price is cheaper than the $4 Wal-Mart price, Wal-Mart will charge you the cheaper price. Wal-Mart accepts most plans just like CVS, Rite-Aid, Walgreen's and your local pharmacies.
Pathmark Supermarkets, located in the New Jersey area and other local states, also has $4 generics available. Pathmark Supermarkets recently gained publicity for a planned merger or sale with A & P. Here is a list of the $4 generics from Pathmark. I did not compare the lists of Pathmark and Wal-Mart item for item but they are similar.
Why not save some money and take advantage now. With the high cost of drugs, we all need a break wherever we can legally find one.
From what I could tell, Wal-Mart $4 prescriptions are better for me because there is one item on their list that is not on the Pathmark list from what I can tell. Over the next few weeks, I will try to get my generics filled at Wal-Mart near me. If service there is good, then I will reward them and bring the rest of my prescriptions them to be filled.
My health insurer is Horizon Blue Shield and Blue Cross of New Jersey and my prescription plan is a 50% plan. I found out with my card, I will pay no more at Wal-Mart then any other pharmacy and will save money with the $4 generics. It is a no brainer for me to go to Wal-Mart. How about you? I think I can easily save $200 or more each year.
One of my other drugs recently went off patent and should be a generic right now, but the drug company went to court to fight it and it could be anytime from now to two or three years for it to be on the market as a generic. The generic drug company Mylan is prepared to make and distribute it already from what I understand. That does not mean it will become a $4 generic anyplace soon, but at least it will be a generic and cheaper than what it is now.
